This is the first school year that I have held a monthly Superintendent’s Roundtable for any and all AEA staff prior to that month’s Board of Trustees meeting.  These discussions were modeled on the monthly Pastries with the Principals sessions that we have held at AEA for more more than 15 years (with generous sponsorship from Friends of AEA).  Staff at both AEA campuses submit anonymous questions/comments and I address as many as I can in the time we have.  They are also of course welcome to bring up issues in person at the meetings. I have also been making a concerted effort to preserve some time at each session for Q&A.

I have enjoyed and benefited from the Superintendent’s Roundtable, and I hope participants have as well.  I try to bring as many relevant suggestions back to our leadership team meetings and to date we have implemented items that have come up at Roundtable such as an anonymous health benefits survey for all staff and a more comprehensive way of welcoming new AEA staff members onto the team especially when they join mid-year.
