Our technology distribution efforts continue steadily, with over 300 laptops handed out to AEACES and AEACMS families.  We realize that with so many adults working online from home, families may face a shortage of devices.  For those who still have not received a laptop and/or support setting up high speed internet, be sure to access the tech service button at aeacs.org and leave a voice message or text message with your contact information.  A member of our tech support team will make contact and set up a day/time to make sure your student has what they need to be successful online.

Food distribution also continued today; we are seeing familiar faces as well as new folks from the local neighborhood.  Remember that the CA Department of Education has classified us as a community food distribution center, so if you know of anyone 18 or under who is experiencing food insecurity, please send them our way Monday through Friday from 10am-12pm, rain or shine.

Observing the current food distribution safety and social distancing guidelines.  Community members must now retrieve food from service cart after placement by AEA staff.

Out administrative team and teacher leaders are hard at work this week finalizing the AEA distance learning plan; this will be shared with the entire community prior to the end of Spring Break next Monday, April 13.  I will also post the plan on this blog once it is finalized.  Like school districts around the country and the world, we are exploring this new reality in education and doing our best to focus on what is best for students and families while establishing a structure that is sustainable for our teachers and staff and honors their professional expertise.

Finally, we are committed to providing personal hygiene bags to the community to the best of our ability.  These are being paid for by private donations.  Bags will contain essential personal products that may be difficult to find in stores; this will also support families in adhering to stay-at-home orders, as they will be able to combine food pickup with collecting a hygiene bag.  We expect the next round of bags to be ready early next week.  To donate to this effort please visit aeacs.org and click the Donate button.  All donations are tax-deductible.  For those who are able to donate, thank you immensely for your generosity.
