About Eric

Eric Mitchell, a beloved father and AEA Board member, lost his battle with cancer at age 51. Eric’s passion for helping others and his quiet and kind commitment to educating the next generation helped shape the future of Albert Einstein Academies and will continue to do so for many years to come.

This award was formed in a resolution passed by the Board in March in honor of former AEA Board Vice President Eric Mitchell. It will be presented annually at the end of the school year to a fifth, eighth and twelfth grade student at AEA who best represents and exemplifies the IB Caring attribute. Winners will be memorialized on a perpetual plaque on their respective AEA campus and will also receive an honorarium from a private fund established in Eric’s name.

AEA student that exemplifies the IB profile of Caring:

Students who are caring show empathy, compassion, and respect toward the needs and feelings of others. They have a personal commitment to service and act to make a positive difference in the lives of others and the world around them.

"The world as we have created it is a process of our thinking. It cannot be changed without changing our thinking."
